happy wends!!!

its exactly one week since 4th of july... and what a fun 4th it was. it rained and rained... oh, did i mention it rained that day?.. ick!

to get off that icky subject i will proudly anounce the fact that i finaly finished that stupid whitney otto book.... it was dumb... thats the nicest thing i can think of to say about it. onward and upward is how i will now look at things... it can only get better right??

me im in for the long term. its really cute. ...not much of an opinion yet.
Again, i havn't posted in a bit. I was busy finding a new job... one that i like better.. better hours, better co workers, best of all better pay!!! and its a whopping 4 miles from my house. Love it.. even if i do come home sore every day!!!

So today is fathers day.. i considered sending a card to my dad.. but then thought better of it.. so im not. ill call my mom for chat fest instead!! sounds fair to me!!!

what have i been reading???? ooohhh i read Dodie smith's 101 dalmations. What a fantastic cute little book. it had a disney illustration on the cover but the inside had beautiful doggie drawings that were not in the least cartoony. There were a few changes made when the book was turned into the cartoon.. the mother dogs name, the whole idea of the other mother dog.. and some of the names.. but darn it.. the book was really cute. its on my top ten list.

im still plodding through whitney otto's "Now you see her"... and i am positive that there is a point to it all.. really i do. but its hard to stay foccused. can i tell you how sad and disapointed i feel?? i just loved her other books.

one of my best friends mothers past away this past monday. it was sudden, a heart attack on friday.. and just when they thought she was going to be ok she left us. she will be missed!

My new job keeps me away from everything. its a boring job. I spend a lot of it on the phone trying to explain to angry people why we are no longer in our old location and how to get to our new one. I have been trying to get some reading done by sneaking in a few pages here and there and holding the book under the desk just right so people looking in at me think im just sleepy and resting my head. Im reading Edible woman.. by margaret atwood.she really is marvolous!! For a book that came out in "69" it sure is relavent to modern day.. i wonder sometimes if it is sending me secret messages?? not surprised if it is!

also im trying to finish up whitney otto's "now you see her".... the book goes on and on. there is a plot.. but its kind of runny. its a bit on the boring side too. ..she has done better!

The more i read..

Seems like the more books i read the more im looking for perfection. Snob?? Who Me?? Nah, I just want a book with a solid story.. a really good one with great dialouge(sp??).. I have tried to get beyond page 10 of On Beauty.. but for crissake.. the americans talk and write like the british.. not that i have issues with our cousins across the pond.. but I really think zadie smith tried a little too hard. Maybe ill keep at it.. maybe not

so anyway..... im going to continue my search for that perfect book.

13th tale

ok, so i totaly forgot to write what i thought about this book.. it was a very fun book. I doubt if it will ever make it on a 1oo best of the century list... but i can say it was quite a romp!The twists and turns were never ending.. and what you expected on the next page was not what you found.. all in all i thought it was fun!

The thing i didn't like about this book was the SLLLOOOWWWW start.. ick.. i almost put the book down a dozen times before getting to the good stuff. I also had a hard time with the ending where everything fell into place. There was not much left for me to figure out on my own, or to think about ... I don't want a book with tons of loose ends.. but life in general is messy.. books should be a little messy too.

The plot line was good. ..so far the best book i read this year...

Im on to new and .. better? things.. reading Prep.. by curtis...can't think of her last name.. but i wanted to read this for a while.. and i was going to put it off for a while longer seeing im only reading books wretten by women.. and as far as i know curtis is a man's name.. well, surprise.. things work out. also by my bed/half under my bed is another Atwood. Blind assaisn this time. im about 15 pages into it.. the sci fi bit it a bit distracting.. but i like the way its wretten so far.

This is nuts!!! I just finished reading The Robber Bride... which i think is by far Margaret Atwoods very best.... So far.. and now they are promoting a made for tv movie... of the robber bride!!! How cool is that??? another movie i get to ridicule and say"hey, they did this wrong"... but anyway, its cool anyway.

what im reading now.... umm its another whitney otto book.. not the popular one about the quilts.. and not the newer one.. but darn it i cant think of the title and im so not modivated to get up and find out....

the snow here is starting to melt.. yea..its still high though!

back

I am back. Finally!! Where was I?? no where but home. we did some home improvement stuff. tore down some walls, made my closet smaller.. its now the closet from hell... found lots of mold.. and panted our rooms pretty bright colors.. how fun!!!!

We had a busy xmas time. my favourite gift;.. monk season 1 on dvd.. how cool is that???

now i have emerged myself in cleaning out the basement.. well... its not really cleaning it out.. its ummm well we bought about 15,000 books last year.,. i want to open a used bookstore..and well, my plans got shot down.. but then after the house stuff was done we thought.. hey why not give it another go.. so go we went. By a lady by Amanda Elyot.. it was very jane austinesque... not bad in anyway.. but left me with the feeling that i could do it better if given the chance
my second book was good harbor.. by anita Diament... loved it.. it made me cry and cry and cry.. not a bad thing.. sometimes I like to cry!!

things that make me crazy

one of the things that drive me crazy about people is how they are so fast to "boo" a book. I find this most often happens when people read a really great book by an auther.. they love this book and rave about it, tell everyone the know to read it... This "great" book makes all the lists.. the auther is as well known as the presedent.... A year or two goes by, and the auther comes out with another book.. and its not recieved as well.. People just expect perfection.. they want upgrade.. but i think the reality is that authers need to experiment.. and try new things.. unless they want the boo, then they don't get to have that chance.

today i am....

there was this kid i knew once.. he went to my high school.. and he was just an average kid... but he was funny.. and he came up with a really cool concept... You know those stupid little stickers that say "Hello, my name is___"? well, he wore one every day.. with a different name every day.. somtimes it was something as funny as "Superman" and sometimes it was more political like "Ghandi" ..... and it was just something he did.. and it was kinda cool.

If i were that kid.. and i got to be someone different every day.. not just wear the tag, saying that i was the person, but really be that person.. it would be very alright!

ode to being a teenager

tonight i realized something! Teenagers are a funny thing. They want and try to be so adult in talk and actions.. but in reality they seem more like children then even children do.

I am 8 years past being a teenager... 8 years past giggling to my best friend about a boy, 8 years past the "ask her to ask him if he wants to...." thing. 8 years past hating my parent because they are there. I will be 10 years out of high school this year.. thank god.. and im really happy not to be 15, 16, 17.. though 18 does sound good...

ahh.. so it goes, and we get older

ok, if i wake up to 2 feet of snow in the morning, i won't be surprised!.. ok, so my jaw will drop, after all it is only september.. but still!!!

I havn't read anything good since my last post. I am halfway done with poe and fanny.... and its starting to anoy me. Could be my mood.. or could be the book. Im not sure. in fact it could be a little of both.. Perhaps i will start something new! So many books to read, and life is so limited!!!

crazy poe

I started a new book last night. Its called poe&fanny by john May. So far it's ok. its not great.. but i have to admit that i like the way May uses a variaty of people to piece the story together. I love books like that in general. Whitney Otto did a great job with her book "A collection of Beauties"...The book felt so 80ish. I ate it up

Anyway back to May, and the whole Poe thing. ... well i guess i just don't get poe. I always thought he was a little on the creepy side. I tried about a dozen times to read the Balloon hoax.. but never could do it. Had to read the cask of amontillado in high scool.. and it was ok.. Im thinking that even though this is fiction, perhaps it will help me to understand him a bit better.. and i can enjoy his creepy stories....

Oh, and i read a book by laura lippman a few years ago called "in a strange place". it had a Poe theme to it.. and i did like the book so perhaps there is hope for me still.... anyway, i am hoping!

just another day!

ok, today is my ranting day! The thing i want to rant about the most is how i hate when i find a band i love they keep coming out with cd's, but each one gets suckier and suckier as time goes by. Three great examples of this are
Blink 182. Dosn't "dammit" just make you want to scream and yell, and say this is my antham!!! and then a few albums down the line you get travis beating away at his drums while we listen to "roller coaster".. a pretty good song, but there is some kind of element that is just not there. then by cd number ... 7? you just can't remember a single title of a tune, and not a single song stays put in your mind!
Example number 2! Barenaked Ladies... or should i say bare naked boringness. We all loved "Jane" right?.. and who could forget the million dollar song. but lets get serious.. "pinch me".... how about gag me.... and because i really did like the ladies for such a long time i will quit being mean.. but i do hope that they either come out with a really great cd next time or go away forever!
The worst thing i ever saw happen is with what happend to Weezer! I hold them in high regard mind you!. I love screaming out the words ... all the words to all the songs on Pinkerton. this album just blew me away. I thought i would die when weezer said they were done back in the "90''s. Then like magic, the green album came out. It went so fast, nothing to really think about, it was just a cd.... and then the other 2 came out.. and right now in the back of my head i am hearing the song that goes "your my best friend, and i love you".. its like.. ick.. gross, we want crazy sounding songs .. about nothing.. if we wanted another dumb boring love song we would go find one, but not by you.... so anyway, im glad weezer is over and done with, because i could not take much more of their crap!

finished

Summer is over! I came to that conclusion on the way home from camp this evening! The sky was looming and it was like looking into a sky belonging to late fall! Sigh!!! I can't even seem to pick out a single day of this past summer. It was all a blur!

I finished The Red Tent. What a fantastic book! I love looking at "Old" stories in a new way. It gave me a happy feeling to know that women as a whole did lead an important life, though history seems to have blocked it out! my rating is 5/5.... way to go anita!!!!

9-11

Its 9-11 again! I guess this day will forever remind the average american of distruction and sadness. I am not religious ... at least not in the terms most people would think of as being religious. However i do believe in a god! My god is forgiving, and always atempting to teach us to be good. I don't understand why he lets "bad" things happen.. but i am positive that there is always a reason behind everything that happens. I feel greatful that i knew no one that died in ny 5 years ago.. and i hope never to have to see distruction like that again......I wish for Peace!

First Day

I never thought blogging would be my "thing" but here I am! Who am i? Just an average person. Im on the doorstep of turning 28 but the reality is I just want to be 24 all over again. Im at the age were i start wondering where the heck they came up with these stupid tv shows, who are these god awful kids singing on the radio and what is up with all this freaking chick lit??? ok enough ranting...
